FRAGMENTED REALITIES // FRAGMENTED REALITIES // FRAGMENTED REALITIES // FRAGMENTED REALITIES //
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE 19/20, DOHA FIRE STATION
Fragmented realities is a collectively projected, immersive experience. Dreams are a source of inspiration. However, they cannot be controlled, reversed, repeated, saved, or replayed. Dreams may lead one to question themselves or their surroundings. Symbolism takes on an extensive part of the search for meaning in our dreams. Our perceptions, interpretations, and senses guide us to resolutions that create an order to the boundless chaos. The experience is individually unique but universal in its elements. It is built using pictorial and oral fragments; emotions and memories; time and space.
20 minutes, audiovisual, Pillows / Projectors

“MY DREAM STARTED OUT AT THE DOOR OF A MUSEUM IN A CITY. MY GROUP AND I WERE SMUGGLING A BLACK AND WHITE DRAWING OF A BOAT, IN THE MUSEUM. THERE WERE LOTS OF PEOPLE AROUND SO WE NEEDED TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO BE RECOGNIZED. WHEN WE FINALLY PUT THE DRAWING IN THOUGH, BUBBLES STARTED COMING OUT OF IT. I SHOUTED TO MY COMPANIONS TO JUMP IN THE OCEAN, BECAUSE SOMEHOW THERE WAS SUDDENLY AN OCEAN IN THE CITY IN FRONT OF THE MUSEUM. ”

“IN A LOW-LIT FIRST CLASS CABIN, I WAS WORRIED ABOUT TURBULENCE AND KEPT ASKING THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT ABOUT MY FAMILY MEMBERS. I KEPT STARING AT THE CABIN LIGHTS AND MY WINDOW. THE ANXIETY OF FALLING OR CRASHING WAS ALL I WAS WORRIED ABOUT. AS I HEARD A LOUD BANG IN THE CABIN, I WOKE UP FROM MY DREAM.”
~ JABOR AL DOSARI
︎“I WAS SURROUNDED BY STRANGERS RIDING WHALES EVERYWHERE WHICH MADE ME LAUGH BECAUSE I WAS SERIOUSLY LIVING THE DREAM OVERALL THIS MADE ME FORGET HOW SCARY AND WEIRD THIS DREAM WAS AND THAT I WAS NOT IN IT ALONE.”
